Binding
19th-century English blind-tooled black morocco over paper boards (41.5 x 30 cm), sewn on 5 supports. Marbled paper pastedowns and endleaves, with plain paper endleaves. Older leather fore edge tabs.
Inscriptions/Markings
Hand decoration: Contemporary Augsburg rubrication, alternating red and blue initials, red headlines, chapter numbers, paragraph marks, and capital strokes; primary initials painted with penwork decoration, initial F in blue on gold with foliate border decoration (leaf [1]/1r). Initial E at Esdras II has inscription "INRIO" in letterform (perhaps a reference to Heilig Kreuz?) (leaf [14]/5v), also "INRI" and "Maria" (leaf [15]/11r). Annotations: Minimal marginal notations in text, mainly NB marks. Contemporary manuscript quire signatures: letters on first folios (bottom center margin) and Arabic numerals on leaves (various places around top, bottom, and side margins). Unidentified inscription: "Ita fr. Ant. veibsr(?)," in similar hand to Heilig Kreuz inscription (leaf 36/8r).
