Bound in 2 vols: Vol. 1: Contemporary blind-stamped "half" pigskin over beech boards (32.5 x 21 cm), sewn on 3 supports in Ingolstadt by Jerg Wirffel (EBDB w000052/Kyriss 69, also known as the Jerg Wirffel Nachfolger, the workshop of Löwe II and Vierblatt I, active 1467-89); repaired by Duprez Lahey. Plain paper pastedowns and rear fly leaf. 2 clasps, wanting, with brass catch plates stamped "ave". Vol. 2: 16th-century blind-rolled "half" pigskin over beech boards (31.5 x 21 cm), sewn on 4 supports; repaired by Duprez Lahey. Plain paper pastedowns and fly leaves; plain endbands. 2 catches, 1 wanting, with stamped brass arrowhead catch plates; 2 of the original 4 catches wanting.
Inscriptions/Markings
Hand decoration: Vol 1: Rubricated, red lombards, marginal section titles, underlining, and highlighting on woodcut initials; capital strokes only on first text leaf. Vol. 2: Rubricated, red lombards and capital strokes. Annotations: Vol. 1: Heavily annotated in 15th-/16th-century hand. Manuscript numeric quire notation in bottom right corner of first folios, mostly trimmed. Vol. 2: Manuscript alphanumeric quire signature at bottom right edge of text block. Heavily annotated in a couple of 16th-century hands. Later (19th century?) notes in bottom margin with names for plants in other languages.
