Please review the information below before submitting a request for commercial, documentary, television, film, or other professional photography and video productions at The Morgan Library & Museum. The application link can be found at the bottom of the page. The Morgan does not accommodate:
- Use of the Historic Library as a backdrop for interviews, photo shoots, or filming not affiliated with the Morgan, including advertising and fashion shoots
- Wedding, engagement, or graduation photo shoots
- Unscripted television productions
- Music videos
- Advertising campaigns
- Student film or photography projects
Requests should be submitted no fewer than 60 days before the proposed shoot dates. Larger or more complex productions may require additional advance notice.
The Morgan typically allows shoots on Mondays when closed to the public, or before opening to the public at 10:30 am (Tuesday through Friday). The Morgan does not allow shoots in our public spaces during public hours, after public hours, on weekends, or on federal holidays, unless otherwise negotiated; higher fees may apply. Shoots may take place in the Morgan’s historic parlors during public hours, subject to location availability.
Requests must include confirmed distribution plans (e.g., broadcast, streaming, publication, or commissioned release). The Morgan does not accept applications for speculative or uncommissioned projects.
The Morgan charges a flat fee in addition to an hourly location fee. Final pricing will be determined based on the specific shoot location, as well as the scope, complexity, and scale of the production.
The production is solely responsible for securing all rights and clearances for any artwork or materials featured in the shoot, as well as for covering any associated clearance costs. The Morgan assumes no responsibility for royalties or fees claimed by artists, their agents, or estates. Rights information may be provided upon request.
Artworks must remain in their installed and/or framed condition at all times. They may not be moved, unframed, touched, leaned on, sat upon, or used to support, hold, or display any objects during filming or photography. Handling of artworks is strictly limited to authorized Morgan personnel. Outside artworks and props are not permitted.
A Communications & Marketing staff member must accompany crews at all times while onsite at the Morgan.
Upon submission, the Morgan will review your request and may request additional materials, including a synopsis, script, or storyboard, if applicable. Submission does not guarantee approval.
If approved, a filming agreement outlining the terms, fees, and conditions will be issued. The agreement must be signed, proof of insurance must be submitted, and payment remitted at least five days prior to the scheduled shoot date.
Please fill out this form with your filming or photography request.
