Bound in red morocco with the initials S, V, and two interlaced P's repeating within diamond-shaped compartments formed by a diaper of diagonal lines with a "sword-hilt" tool midway between each intersection; small rectangles cut away from front and back paste-downs to reveal initials tooled on turn-ins of leather covers: G on front, D on rear; possibly the initials of George Drobert, cf. Gruel, Manuel (I, 85).
