Binding:
Contemporary French armorial binding of red morocco, gilt; with unidentified "MA" monogram (similar to monogram of Marguerite of Angouleme) and arms perhaps of Florent du Chatelet (1652-1732). The gilt design is a late but competent variant of the style made popular by Le Gascon and Badier, of compartments filled with pointillé tooling.
