386, [2] pages ; 16 cm (8vo)
Binding:
16th-century French olive morocco, gilt and blind panelling, with gold tooled wreaths with title inscription: "Bembus, Nauger. Castil. Cotta, Flamin" and motto: "Beata tranquillitas" (front and rear boards), over paper boards (16 x 10.5 cm), sewn on 5 supports. The overall tooling pattern is similar to that of the Cupid's Bow Binder (bindings for Lauweryn); Nixon identified a connection with early fanfare bindings, although only the floret tool on the spine related to those (Atelier au Vase), although those also typically have a flat back.
