As a part of the exhibition A Celebration: Acquisitions in Honor of the Morgan’s Centennial, on view through August 17, this selection highlights a group of drawings gifted to the museum by the artist Giuseppe Penone.

Drawing upon the rich holdings of the Morgan’s collection of medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts, Now and Forever explores how people told time in the Middle Ages and what they thought about it.

The exhibition features some twenty exceptional drawings by Degas, along with two of his sketchbooks, demonstrating the iconic artist's characteristic daring and inventiveness.

The leaves of a magnificent album compiled for Husain Khan Shamlu, governor of Herat (r. 1598–1618) and one of the most powerful rulers in Persia in the early seventeenth century, are now on view on the Lower Level.
