English ivory horn book. The front bears the alphabet in capitals, lower case letters, and vowels in capital form which have been carved in the ivory and filled with black ink. The handle is decorated with a bird holding a leafy branch, a variant on the crest of the Tallow-Chandlers Company, showing that this was used at their school. The back is plain.
