Discussing regimental business and relating news of mutual acquaintances; discussing his reconciliation with the Duke of York saying "The remark you make upon the reconciliation which has taken place between the Duke of York & myself is exactly what I expected it would be & I only wish that it had existed prior to my accepting the Government of Gibraltar as then I am well convinced things would never have taken the turn they have done since that period, by which I mean that I should have escaped all the unjust treatment that I have experienced after the Mutiny; and instead of being situated as I am now, I should be at this time at my post & holding the Commission of Commander of his Majesty's Forces in the Mediterranean, while he would still be at the Head of the Army."
