The letter is undated but a penciled notation at the top of the first page suggests it was written in 1894.
Written from "1, Abbey Garden, / Westminster, S.W." on stationery engraved with the address.
Saying "Charlie wishes me to write to you - He has been in his bed since Thursday with a bad go of bronchitis - The poor chap took no care of himself as usual and this time has to pay for it - he has had a racking cough and a real bad head - the doctor sees him twice a day and a nurse looks after him at night - The former tells me he can't expect him to be much better for some days yet - Its a great blow for him to be laid up at such a time, but he has great hopes of being able to finish the picture of the child in time for the exhibition. I hope you will be able to come down and see me at Aldershot some day this summer. I dare say you would enjoy a field day - Later on when Charlie is himself again we might make a bundobust - I go back to Aldershot tonight."
