The Morgan Library & Museum invites applications for the position of Project Cataloger. The position creates and revises records for curatorial collection items, including manuscripts, graphics, printed books, scores, and art and cultural objects in CORSAIR, the Morgan’s collection database; in TMS, the Morgan’s collection management system; and in OCLC’s WorldCat database. Cataloging tasks will be assigned based on the findings and needs of the Morgan’s ongoing collection survey project. This is a temporary part-time position (21 hours per week) and will conclude at the end of September 2025. The position reports to the Director of Collection Information.
- Creates and updates records for curatorial collection items
- Performs necessary authority control tasks on the records
- Performs routine database maintenance tasks in all systems as needed
- May assist with the physical processing and rehousing of collection items
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of library descriptive cataloging standards and the MARC format
- Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail required
- Ability to manage and complete multiple assignments required
- Experience with an integrated library system, especially Voyager preferred
- Knowledge of authority control practices and NACO experience preferred
- Experience with OCLC’s Connexion client preferred
- Familiarity with data transformation processes and tools preferred
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree in Library and Information Science or substantial course work towards the degree required
- Prior experience working in a library, especially in special collections preferred
$28.00 per hour
