St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble
Facets of Schubert
A three-concert festival exploring Franz Schubert through the lens of some of his best-loved chamber music works.

II. Cello Quintet & Unfinished Works

Fragments and movements from:

String Trio in B-flat Major, D. 471

String Quartet No. 12 in C minor, D. 703 “Quartettsatz”

String Quintet in C Major, D. 956, Op. posth. 163

Schubert’s life was cut tragically short by illness, a body of his work was left unfinished, and many completed pieces were never heard by the composer—or anyone—during his life. In Cello Quintet & Unfinished Works we combine the unfinished with the unheard. The Morgan’s
Carolyn Vega, Assistant Curator of Literary and Historical Manuscripts; Ilona van Tuinen, Annette and Oscar de la Renta Assistant Curator of Drawings and Prints; and OSL’s James Roe, President & Executive Director, will lead pre-concert conversations on the theme of unfinished artistic works.
