48 yellow cardboard cards from an Italian game of tombola. Each card (cartella) features a grid of 27 squares with a random selection of 15 numbered squares, written in black ink dispersed among blank squares, painted green. Floral borders printed in black are pasted around the grids.The yellow versos have two number sequences written in black ink: No. 52-54 (IX); 55-60 (X); 61-66 (XI); 67-72 (XII); 73-78 (XIII); 79-84 (XIV); 85-90 (XV); 91-96 (XVI); 97-99 (no number).
Tombola is a game of chance similar to lotto, in which numbered game pieces (tombolini) are drawn out of a bag and are read aloud to the players, who cover the corresponding numbers on their cards. The Library's copy is lacking the tombolini and the bag.
