The volunteer program works to match the Morgan's needs with the skills of qualified candidates. Volunteer opportunities are available in many departments. Unless otherwise indicated, volunteer positions occur during business hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Please note: The amount of time a volunteer will work per week varies with the particular position. Most positions require an average of one day per week. All volunteer positions require a minimum time commitment of one year.

Volunteer FAQs

Collection Preservation Assistant

Under the direction of the Thaw Conservation Center staff, the volunteer will provide support for ongoing departmental activities such as inventorying and ordering of supplies, organizing and filing of reports in both hard-copy and electronic formats.


Drawings and Prints: Departmental Assistant

The Department of Drawings and Prints seeks a volunteer departmental assistant. The position would be administrative and clerical, assisting the department’s Curators and Administrator.

Education: Usher/Public Program Volunteer

The Morgan is seeking an outgoing, people-oriented, highly energetic individual with an interest in art and music in general and the Morgan in particular to provide quality service as an usher at events open to the public.

The Morgan Shop: Assistant

This is a great opportunity for people who are interested in merchandising and retail sales. Volunteers will work in the Morgan's Shop in four-hour shifts Saturdays or Sundays.

Visitor Services: Information/Membership Desk Representative

Volunteers will join a team of people who help enhance the visitor experience by providing information about the Morgan, its collections and exhibitions, and by answering questions related to membership.
