Previously in red velvet; replaced in 1925 by Marguerite Duprez Lahey with full brown morocco, blind tooled, a band of interlaced motifs forming a panel stamped in center with Morgan arms; heavy rose-brown end papers, also used for outsides of chemise, in slip case.

Provenance: 
Erased arms in lower margin of several pages; executed for presentation to the Carmelite Church of Santa Maria in Porto; sold in 1863 by Boone to Dr. John Gott (the Right Rev. John Gott, Lord Bishop of Truro); Southeran, Bibliotheca pretiosa, 1907, cat. no. 302; Gott sale (London, Sotheby's, 20 March 1908, no. 40) to Thomas; purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) from Leo S. Olschki in 1909; J.P. Morgan (1867-1943).
