Variants are known with titles and capitals masked during printing for adding by hand in presentation copies (CIBN A-410).
The last quire (dedicatory letter and colophon) is not found in all copies, probably because the flight and proscription of Piero de' Medici shortly after the publication of the book caused the dedication to be suppressed (BMC).

Early 17th-century gilt-tooled citron morocco, stenciled with a colored floral motif, over paper boards (23 x 17 cm), sewn on 4 supports, with arms of de Thou and his second wife, Gasparde de la Chastre (m. in 1601). Plain paper pastedowns and endleaves; decorative endbands; gilt edges.
