Preparatory for an engraving in "Scelta di XXIV vedute delle principali contrade, piazze, chiese, e palazzi della città di Firenze", Florence, 1744; as the inscription states, the design is based on a fresco by Giovanni da San Giovanni (1596-1636) on the exterior wall of a house opposite the Porta Romana.

Inscription: 

Inscribed on the pedestal at center, in pen and brown ink, "Scelta / di XXIV.Vedute delle principali / Contrade, Piazze, Chiese, e Palazzi, della Città di Firenze / Dedicata / Alla Sacra Reale Apostolica / Maestà di / Maria Teresa / Regina d'Ingheria / e di Boemia, / Arciduchessa d'Austria / e Granduchessa / di Toscana &c. &c. &c."; on a cartouche below, "Questo Frontespizio dato ora in luce per la prima volta, è preso / dalla Pittura originale à fresco fatta dal Mannozzi detto Giovanni / da San Giovanni nel Prospetto di una Casa posta in Firenze in faccia / alla Porta Romana."
