This particular group of trees appears, in reverse, in the artist's print "Landscape with Venus and Adonis", no. 4 in a series dated 1654.

Inscription: 

Inscribed on the verso, in brown ink, at bottom, "Swaenvelt del"; upside down at bottom, "No ["o" in superscript] 48" (effaced). On the old mount, with Knapton code, in brown ink, in center, "T-[or F] 25"; at upper left, "1072" (crossed out in graphite in another hand and changed to "1657"); and at upper right, "3N / L83".
