The sketch on the verso is probably a study for the Christ child in "Madonna with Child Crowning St. Cecilia," of ca. 1604, in S. Agnese al Vignano, Siena (Adolfo Venturi, "Storia dell'arte italiana", IX, 7, fig. 595).

Inscription: 

Inscribed at lower left in pen and brown ink, "Vanni".
Watermark: Bird in a circle (possibly Heawood 177).
