Poème sur la Passion
Ms. poem; written and illuminated in Rouen, France, ca. 1530.
Decoration: 24 miniatures, one of which is painted on a separate vellum leaf, by a different artist and with a different text, that has been pasted onto fol. 5r.
Artist: The primary illuminator of this manuscript was the Master of Girard Acarie. He executed the presentation scene showing Jacques Le Lieur offering his poem to Francis I (fol. 2r). There is another presentation scene, between Louise of Savoy and Francis I, taken from a separate manuscript and pasted to fol. 5r. Because Le Lieur was known to have employed the illuminator Jean Perréal for several of his works, it has been suggested that Perréal, or one of his followers might have illustrated this second presentation.
