Isle of Lewis King Cufflinks

Pewter with antique silver finish

These cufflinks are inspired by the famous Isle of Lewis chessmen, which were carved from ivory in the late twelfth and early thirteenth century, possibly in Scandinavia. Ninety-three pieces from a compendium of games, including four different chess sets, were rediscovered 700 years after their creation. Although no chessboards were found, it is possible that the board was red and white, as opposed to the traditional black and white we use today.
