Reading the Object: Paper as a Support for Drawings, Prints and Manuscripts
Paper, the ubiquitous fragile and flexible material that supports the work of artists, printers, and writers, is the basis of the Morgan’s collection. In this seminar, the physical characteristics of paper, the history of papermaking, and the ways in which paper influences the way we perceive objects will be discussed. Held in the Thaw Conservation Center and using works from various departments that comprise the Morgan’s collection, you will have the opportunity to learn how our conservators study and describe paper, led by Reba F. Snyder, Paper Conservator, Thaw Conservation Center and Lindsey Tyne, Associate Paper Conservator, Thaw Conservation Center.

Please call (212) 685-0008 ext. 560 or e-mail tickets@themorgan.org for information.
