Celebrate the opening of the exhibition Van Eyck to Mondrian: 300 Years of Collecting in Dresden with Stephanie Buck, Director of the Dresden Kupferstich-Kabinett. Formally established in 1720, the Kupferstich-Kabinett is the oldest museum dedicated to works on paper in the German-speaking lands. Today, its holdings include more than five hundred thousand works from the Middle Ages to the present day, providing opportunities to experience the creative work of past eras alongside contemporary art on paper. On the occasion of the institution's 300th anniversary, this lecture will explore the history of the Dresden collection and share insights into a number of exceptional drawings on view in the exhibition.
The lecture will take place in the Morgan's Gilder Lehrman Hall. In compliance with city guidelines, museum visitors 12 and older must show proof of at least one shot of a Covid-19 vaccine approved for emergency use by the FDA or the World Health Organization.
