Inscribed at lower right, in pen and brown ink, "Raffael da Urbino (partially effaced)"; on mount, at lower center, in pen and dark brown ink, "Raffaello Sanzio"; on verso at upper left, in pen and brown ink [illegible--covered by perimeter mount].
