Explaining that he left his luggage "in the hands of the official person (in uniform) charged with the business of sending passengers' baggage after them" and received his bags the next day; asking her to send handkerchiefs and tobacco to Charles Dickens so he can bring them to Paris; telling her that he caught a chill but is feeling better; mentioning that he met the painter Ary Scheffer.
