Summary: 

Published pp. 104-105, with two omissions: (1) she now has so much to do that she can write only twice a week. "Mr. and Mrs. R are as kind as can be and I hope I am not failing in my duty to them." She is sending a bracelet to her mother, chosen with John, so wished to give Effie "a Chatelaine like the Countesses" for her watch, but she would no permit it because they were so expensive, the lowest price being £18 and £23: "they are all four or five hundred years old and their antiquity is the great thing." On Tuesday Lady Davy called, asking them to name their own day for dinner; (2) leaving Turner, they went window shopping; then John left to make a call and she went to the Parkers, who were all "glad to see me," next she waited for John at entrance to the park, watching the fashionable enter it in carriages or on horseback. Then home.
