With a note above the address panel, dated Oct. 17, 1843 and probably in Cassandra Austen's hand, in which she apologizes that a ring she intended for Cassandra Esten Austen has been lost and requests that a song work-book given to her by Caroline Austen be returned to Caroline.

Watermark: Wove paper, "Joynson 1841".

Summary: 

Informing him that he has been made residuary legatee in her will and giving him instructions regarding the disposal of her property, including clothing, jewelry, and family miniatures; also refers to her intention to destroy her various personal papers and set apart the letters and manuscripts of her sister Jane Austen "for those parties to whom I think they will be mostly valuable."
