Notes:
Salle Werner-Vaughn is a Texas-born American painter, author, and collector whose art focuses on the relationship between illusion and reality. Her artwork is equally influenced by the pagan world represented in Classical and neo-Classical art, such as that of Claude Lorrain, as well as a close observation of nature based in the real world. Her watercolor drawing "Temptation - From Janie's Garden: Three Green Apples from 1993" shows her later, painterly-approach to representing nature. The contrast between the clearly painted apples on the branch and the dark brown, indistinct background evokes a sense of mystery and illusion that is further enforced by the title, which alludes to a Christian or religious connection
