Notes:

Characteristic of David Dupuis's colored-pencil drawings, this untitled work of 1999 combines the playfulness of a loosely drawn linear structures with the inclusion of a carefully rendered biomorphic form suggestive of Louise Bourgeoise's phallic abstractions. Contrasting organic and linear forms, Dupuis' drawing offers a complex meditation on the act of creation in terms of the rational mind and its darker unconscious, linking his work to the Surrealist-Symbolist tradition.
