Drawing shows an interior where an older man in 17th century dress sits in a chair beside a stained glass window with an open book on his lap and a sword hanging at his side; he has one arm on the shoulders of a young boy who stands, at left, studying the open volume, his finger on the page, while a second boy, at right, sits on the floor playing with a dog.
