Gravelot's design is preparatory for an engraving illustrating the sixth story of the fifth day in an edition of Boccaccio's “Decamerone” published in Paris by Prault in 1757-61 (the image is captioned: V Journée, Nouvelle 6). The scene shows the lovers Restituta and Gianni of Procida bound at the stake.
