21 1/8 x 11 inches (537 x 279 mm)
Gift of Robert Halsband.

Notes:
Alastair Laing observed that the subject of this sheet is likely related to a maritime victory, perhaps that of Vittorio Amedeo II of Savoy over the French in the 1706 Siege of Turin. Francois Marandet suggested it might be the work of a Venetian artist and date somewhat later, ca. 1730.
Inscription:
Inscribed on banderole in composition, “PAX [in virtute] tua et Abbundantia in Turribus” [Psalm 122]; various numbers on verso, including “n 33.”
Watermark: Stag within a circle surmounted by letter P. (see Heawood 19).
Provenance:
Purchased in Paris by Robert Halsband (1914-1989), Urbana, Il.
