The drawing was one of those commissioned by Samuel Bagster to illustrate his 1815 edition of Izaak Walton and Charles Cotton's "The Complete Angler". The subject was engraved by John Greig and appears on p. 129.

Inscribed, signed and dated, in pen and brown ink, "nr. Ware Herts J. Linnell 1814".
