Burd on separate piece of paper affixed to frame backing, "A Map of India," watercolor by John Ruskin, 1885 / Van A. Burd received this drawing from the bequest of Helen Viljoen in 1974. On the back of the drawing is written: / "by Ruskin" / Then Viljoen has added: / "See 31, Pl. 5, p. 388, 508. / Drawn for A Knight's Faith, 1885".
