Inscribed in black ink on a strip of paper attached to bottom, since removed, "Rev John Pierpont: "Airs of Palestine" / By Rembrandt Peale. May 1821."

John Neal (1793-1876), Portland, ME; possibly William Alston Pierpont (1820-1896); his daughter Mary Lord (1838-1913) and her husband James Crosby (1820-1896); their daughter Mary Pierpont (1869-) and her husband Edward Webster McGlenen (1854-1930); their son Edward Webster McGlenen Jr. (b. 1898), and his wife Alice Irene Whitney McGlenen (b. 1903).
