One of eighty-seven watercolor views prepared for August Pugin's celebrated "Paris and its Environs Displayed in a Series of Picturesque Views", 1828-31. A.N.W. Pugin, an architect and designer, was the son of August Pugin (1762-1832), who directed the publication.

Inscription: 

Signed at lower right in pen and brown ink, "A Pugin"; inscribed, signed and dated on verso in pen and brown ink, "Canal de l'ourck [?] / A Pugin...1828".
