Engraver's burnished proof, with sections of the unfinished white areas excised, probably for creation of an overlay proof.

Summary: 

Illustration shows a party consisting of two men, a woman, and a boy, on the deck of a ship; the woman and the younger of the two men are seated and engaged in a game of chess, while the boy and an older man with an umbrella stand and look on.
