This sketchbook contains several studies for the background of the artist's 1838 Salon entry "St. Peter Healing a Cripple", now in the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris, as well as copies after paintings or prints, including Ingres's "Odalisque".
