Manuscript leaves of a parchment codex life of St. Pachomius; written and decorated at the Monastery of St. Theodore, Fayyūm Province, Egypt.
Text: The end of a life of St. Pachomius. Subscript title edited by Lantschoot. Text edited (1933) and translated (1943) into French by Lefort.
Colophons: 1) fol. 5v: Memorial or donation (?) in Coptic: For the holy fathers Papa Damianos, Papa Apaioulei, Deacon Ammōne, "and the rest of the brethren"; possibly a donation, as the codex is said to be "an offshoot by (or among) you." 2) fol. 5v: Copyist, place of copying in Coptic: Deacon Diōskōros (not the same as the copyist of M.581), son of the late Deacon [Dimōtheos], both readers and copyists of (the Monastery of) St. Theodore.
Written area ca. 272 x 216 mm. Divisions: Ekthesis and enlarged initial setting off paragraphs. Exceeding letters of last line of the page sometimes written below end of the line and encompassed by a red stroke on recto of fols. 1, 3, 5, once below recto column a.
Script: Upright. 10 lines = ca. 77 mm
Superlineation: Non-standard. Punctuation: Raised dot in conjunction with a space. No tremas.
Collation: Uncertain, but hypothetically the ninth quire, gathered in five, probably the last of the codex. Signed on first page of the quire. No remains quire ornaments, monograms, headlines or catchwords.
Scribe: Diōskōros.
Decoration: signatures and page numbers.
