Pen and brown ink and wash, with lead white opaque watercolor (partially oxidized), over black chalk on laid paper. Adhered overall to laminated paper decorative mount, 18 1/4 x 12 3/8 inches (464 x 314 mm).

Watermark: probably crossbow in circle (Briquet 749, Lucca 1548) visible through lining.
