Copy after Paolo Veronese's painting of "St. Sebastian being Tortured" on the right hand wall in the choir of San Sebastiano, Venice, executed ca. 1565-70.

Inscription: 

Inscribed at lower left, in black chalk, "83"; at lower right, "14".
Watermark: Circle, bisected, surmounted by pole with three triangular segments attached. Same as 1993.133, 1993.139, 1993.140.

Provenance: 
Moscardo collection, Verona, which passed to the Marquis de Calceolari (no mark; see Lugt S. 2990a-g); purchased in 1949 in Zurich by Janos Scholz, New York (no mark; see Lugt S. 2933b).
