Rembrandt with the Falcon
[16--]
Etching on paper.
126 x 98 mm
RvR 3
Provenance:
Heneage Finch, 5th Earl of Aylesford (1786-1859), London and Packington Hall, Warwickshire; John Heywood Hawkins (1803-1877), London and Bignor Park; George W. Vanderbilt (1862-1914); from whom purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan in 1905.
Notes:

Watermark: None.
Etching by unknown pupil of Rembrandt.
Hair touched up under the left ear and coat in some of the darkest shadows. (White and Boon)
Considered by Blanc, Middleton and Rovinski as the work of pupil (probably Van Vliet). Münz attributed the first two states to F. Bol; they seem, however, closer to I. de Jouderville (cf. B.132). (White and Boon)
