Tobias Nickel
A group of works in the exhibition Invention and Design highlights the new focus on landscape drawing that arose in northern Italy in the early sixteenth century, a phenomenon that coincided with a broader trend of producing finished drawings for a sophisticated new class of collectors. In this lecture, Tobias Nickel, the 2018–19 Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Morgan Drawing Institute and the author of a catalogue raisonne of Domenico Campagnola’s drawing, will explore Campagnola’s work in this context.
The exhibition Invention and Design: Early Italian Drawings at the Morgan will be open for program attendees.
