Artist Talk: Thomas Lanigan-Schmidt
New York artist Thomas Lanigan-Schmidt and Roger S. Wieck, Curator of Illuminating Faith: The Eucharist in Medieval Life and Art, discuss the depiction of transubstantiation in art and the religious symbolism in Lanigan-Schmidt’s mixed-media constructions, which contain cheap and ephemeral materials that create icons, chalices, and altarpieces.
