 American Art in the 1960s
Michael Blackwood Productions Inc. |
Roy Lichtenstein on Screen To coincide with the exhibition Roy Lichtenstein: The Black-and-White Drawings, 1961–1968, the Morgan is screening several films that examine the work of Lichtenstein and his contemporaries.
American Art in the 1960s (1973, 57 minutes)
Director: Michael Blackwood
This film examines the key figures of the 1960s, including Rauschenberg and Johns, two contemporaries of Lichtenstein who were crucial transitional figures between abstract expressionism and the sensibilities of the new decade. American Art in the 1960s explores how the art of that time mirrored the optimism and affluence, as well as the technology and crassness of those boom years. Courtesy of Michael Blackwood Productions. Friday, November 12, 2010, 7 p.m.
Films are free with museum admission. Tickets are available at the Admission Desk on the day of the screening. Advance reservations for Morgan Members only: (212) 685-0008, ext. 560, or tickets@themorgan.org.
