Ellen Rosand, Mary E. Frank, and Ex Umbris Ensemble

Save Venice Inc. and the Morgan present a multimedia experience of Venetian music in its artistic and architectural context. Leading Monteverdi scholar Ellen Rosand, George A. Saden Professor Emeritus of Music at Yale University, Mary E. Frank, an art historian specializing in Renaissance Venice and a principal founder of the Rosand Library and Study Center at Save Venice in Venice, and the New York early music ensemble Ex Umbris, led by Grant Herreid, offer a tantalizing glimpse into the music that marked the last centuries of the Republic, accompanied by images of the venues in which the works would have been performed. This program is part of Carnegie Hall’s city-wide festival “La Serenissima: Music and Arts from the Venetian Republic.”

Mr. Morgan’s Library will open at 5:30 pm for program attendees.
