Book of Hours
Ms. book of hours for the use of Rome; written and illuminated in Langres, France, ca. 1465.
Decoration: 36 original miniatures; 4 border roundels; 24 calendar illustrations; 1 miniature painted in later (fol. 135v); 4 other leaves and 33 miniatures and numerous architectural fragments cut from several manuscripts and pasted; one small miniature from a Burgundian book of hours of ca. 1470, the rest from a Dutch book of hours dated 1529 on the pasted-in miniature on fol. 30; the additions were made after this date, probably while in the hands of the Galope family of Moulins (1572-1586); full illuminated borders on most pages; illuminated initials and line endings; arms of Bosredont in most borders; name and motto, "di chosson de niboro," in many borders and miniatures; initial of first name often knotted to that of wife, A & P.
