Department of Drawings & Prints

The Morgan Library & Museum has the following unpaid internship opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of Drawings & Prints.

Modern and Contemporary Drawings Internship
The Department of Drawings and Prints is seeking a graduate intern specializing in modern and contemporary art to assist with the preparations of several exhibitions of twentieth-century drawings. Responsibilities will include research at local libraries, compiling checklists, organizing exhibition files, helping with various aspects of catalog preparation, drafting professional correspondence, and miscellaneous office tasks. This position offers a great opportunity to gain substantial, wide-ranging experience in a museum environment.

The internship requires a commitment of two days per week, for a duration of four months, beginning mid-September. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their résumé and cover letter as soon as possible.

Old Master Drawings Internships
The Department of Drawings & Prints has a limited number of unpaid internships available throughout the academic year and during the summer. Interns assist curators with permanent collection or exhibition projects by performing library research, as well as fulfilling routine departmental duties such as filing, typing, and photocopying.

A minimum commitment of at least thirty working days, which can be distributed over a negotiable period of time, is required. Positions are open to graduate students, B.A. graduates and undergraduates at advanced stages in their art history or other relevant coursework. Knowledge of Italian, French, or German is desirable.

We accept applications on a rolling basis for unpaid internships throughout the year. For full consideration for a specific seasonal internship, please apply by the following dates:

  • Summer internships; applications due April 1
  • Fall internships; applications due July 1
  • Winter/Spring internships; applications due November 1
