Administrative and Curatorial Assistant

Responsibilities: 

The Morgan Library & Museum’s Department of Modern and Contemporary Drawings seeks a part-time Administrative and Curatorial Assistant to support the work of its curators. The Assistant will work two days per week and will report to the head of the department.

  • Provide administrative support for all department activities, including acquisitions, loans, exhibitions, and donor cultivation
  • Duties include drafting correspondence, overseeing mailings, entering data in collection management database, and maintaining and updating object records and files
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Conservation, Registrar, Education, and Communications and Marketing to coordinate the activities of the department
  • Conduct research on objects in the permanent collection and potential acquisitions and for upcoming exhibitions
  • Assist in developing and drafting interpretive and didactic materials
  • Assist in preparing material for publication, in print and online Assist visiting scholars and respond to inquiries from the public
Qualifications: 
  • BA in art history or related field (MA preferred), with knowledge of modern and contemporary art
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced research skills
  • Must be motivated, dependable, and organized
  • Strong computer skills are essential; familiarity with database programs (including TMS) an advantage
