Emily Dickinson wrote this poem on a torn sheet of stationery paper, folded it in half, and sent it to her sister-in-law, Susan, in early 1864.

Two – were immortal – twice –
The privilege of few –
Eternity – obtained – in Time –
Reversed – Divinity –
That our ignoble Eyes
The Quality perceive
Of Paradise Superlative –
Thro' their – comparative.
